On Saturday, September 12, representatives of the City of Bessemer City Parks and Recreation and Bessemer City BackPack Weekend Food Program, along with eager onlookers, assembled downtown Bessemer City to find out who raised the most money in support of the weekend food program for students in Bessemer City Schools. The losing team had to choose someone from their group to kiss a humble pig on stage. This unique fundraiser was a win-win for the true purpose, which is to make sure students have food to eat on the weekend this school year. In the end, the City raised $11,300 with the BackPack team bringing in $8,000 bringing the total amount raised to $19,300. Dr. Robert Crouch took one for this team and was picked to kiss the pig. Huge thank you to all who supported this fundraiser! Check out the video here.
