Hunger doesn’t take the weekend off

Volunteer

Once a month, beginning in September through the end of the school year, volunteers assemble at the BackPack Weekend Food Program warehouse to pull, count and organize food items. Official Partners of the program pick up their food orders and take food items back to their respective locations where additional volunteers help pack individual food bags that will be delivered the following month to students. Food bags are delivered by volunteers each week to schools so students have food to take home for the weekend.

Pull Order days are the biggest volunteer days of the month requiring 20-30 volunteers. Pull days take place on a Tuesday and offer a behind-the-scenes peek at the operational side of the program.  For more information, contact Leigh Spach at [email protected].
