Gaston Community Foundation Run

Every year in April, nonprofits in Gaston County unite to raise awareness about their services. Beginning in February through April __, the BackPack Weekend Food Program, along with other nonprofits, will fundraise on behalf of their organization. The culmination of the event is the Run slated for Saturday, April 4, 2020. Learn more here.

Front Porch Project

Since mid-March, we’ve had to reframe how we do things, including staying connected with one another. Just because we have social distancing guidelines in place doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun with it and create a lasting memory. Like the national initiative, there is a local #FrontPorchProject happening in Gaston County. There is no cost to participate and you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home…just walk outside on your front porch and smile. Donations are welcomed and will benefit the BackPack Weekend Food Program.

Here’s how the #FrontPorchProject works: Gaston County resident and photographer on the side, Diego Romero, will be doing your family photo session. To ensure your health and safety, Diego will use a zoom lens to keep the recommended 6 feet distance and will wear personal protective gear. Photo sessions take only about 8-10 minutes. You can be creative -- you can stand, sit, be in a group or pose solo.

Sessions are FREE of charge. However, if you would like to make a donation to the Backpack Weekend Food Program during this time, you can here:  https://pay.xpress-pay.com. To sign up for your photo session, click here: https://calendly.com/dfrphotography

Thank you for your participating! We look forward to creating memories even during this unprecedented time in our lives.
