Hunger doesn’t take the weekend off

Church Yard Sale Raises $1k for BackPack

“One man’s junk is another man’s treasure,” an old English Proverb once said. Thanks to Judy MacDonald, member at Christ Church in Gastonia, and a team of volunteers, they raised a little more than $1,000 through a virtual and in-person yard sale a few weeks ago. Lots of treasures at this fundraiser.

“Pledge to Buy – It’s for a Great Cause,” were the words on the flyer that was sent out far and wide in the community and to church members. All proceeds raised will help support students in the BackPack Weekend Food Program.

“Every dollar counts. I am amazed at the time and creative work that went into this hugely successful yard sale and fundraiser,” said Dallas Butler, Executive Director. “No gift is too small when it comes to feeding children who are facing challenging situations. This program is able to feed hungry kids because of people who care to take the time to help someone else.”

Christ Church – Gastonia is also a partner of the program and supports students through monthly packing and delivering to a school in need in Gaston County.
