Hunger doesn’t take the weekend off

CaroMont Health Foundation Extends Support to Program

The BWFP was awarded $15,000 through the CaroMont Health Foundation for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. Funding will help feed students in need and support critical program needs that help propel the program in the community.

“I cannot express how grateful I am to the CaroMont Health Foundation for believing in our mission and the work we are doing to help students achieve optimal academic success,” said Dallas Butler, Executive Director.

For more than a decade, CaroMont Health has supported the mission of the BackPack Weekend Food Program. As a strategic partner, the program is able to provide weekend meals to 800 – 1,000 students each school year under their corporate partnership arrangement with Premier and food distributor, US Foods. This affiliation allows the BWFP to purchase food in bulk at a reduced cost. CaroMont is also an official partner of Sadler Elementary School and helps delivery food bags to nearly 60 students during the school year.

“The BWFP is rooted in the community and CaroMont Health has been at the heart of our program from the beginning,” said Butler. “We are thankful to CaroMont Health’s leadership, Food and Nutrition Services and the many employee volunteers who help pack and deliver food bags each week.”
